I will be posting these each week once they are mailed to me. I know there are some parents who for one reason or another don’t receive these. I hope this helps you out!—D/C
Principal Notes
“Three persons rowing together can accomplish as much as six rowing individually.”
-Spanish Proverb
As we approach our annual Thanksgiving holiday, I wanted to express my gratitude to all of you who work so hard on behalf of our students. From the teachers and staff who show their care through daily lessons and infinite patience to our parent volunteers who raise money to offset the cost of tuition, supervise the playground, assist in the classrooms, coach and sell refreshments, we are blessed to be part of a community where everyone is actively engaged in helping our students.
During a time when we are reminded almost nightly of the challenges we are facing as a nation, it gives me great satisfaction to know that “something” is still working as it is supposed to—that “something” is each of us when we work together for our children.
Reconciliation:
Students in grades 3-8 will be taking part in the sacrament of Reconciliation this Friday afternoon. All students will have an opportunity to meet with either Fr. Jan or Fr. Dave to make their confession. As a Catholic school we make an effort to have the students participate in this sacrament once prior to Christmas and once prior to Easter. For other times that are available for Reconciliation please consult the bulletin.
Thanksgiving Prayer Service:
Our annual Kindergarten Thanksgiving Prayer Service will take place next Tuesday at 2:15 PM in the Church. Everyone is invited to attend.
8th Grade Service Project:
Thanks to a generous donation by a friend of OLH, our eighth graders will be making lunches for a local homeless shelter once a month. The students will be making approximately 40 lunches that will be distributed through the PADS shelter in Libertyville.
6th, 7th and 8th Students Participate in “American Math Competition”:

$crip Makes Cents
The holidays are fast approaching and Thanksgiving will be here before we know it. Please take the time to consider using scrip as you purchase your Holiday goodies. (Jewel, Piggly Wiggly, Walmart, etc). Remember: credit from all purchases up to 11/30/08 will be applied against your December tuition payment (if you paid your tuition in full you will receive a check in May, 2009).
And I hate to say it, but Christmas will sneak up on us before we realize it. Scrip purchases go up this time of the year and I want you to consider using Scrip for both your purchases and gift giving needs. As of this week there will be Holiday Specials available for purchase during regular Scrip hours (at school and at mass). However, these will be limited.
If there is something you want, or you are looking for a gift idea, check out www.shopwithscrip.com. There are many items on that site, more than can be put on the Special order form. You will need the code (8C2F2BA64491) to register; but you only need this number one time. Additionally, if you order through the website, you can be assured that your order will be available by the end of the same week (or even sooner) that you place the order. I do ask that orders be placed by Monday at 10:30 am so we can get things moving back and forth quickly.
Remember: The Wish Lists for the Teachers are now available in the office. Please either send a note to the office or stop by and check out the list if you are considering showing our teachers your appreciation for their efforts with our students.
